Act Out a Script
How you can help at home: Read a script with your child to practice reading skills.
This activity will help your child have fun, increase reading fluency and expression, and get the whole family involved.
What You'll Need
- A script with different family members or friends as readers. Here are some options: Reader's Theater Editions and Readers' Theater Collection
- Make enough copies of the script for each reader to have his or her own.
Here's How to Do It
With your child, choose a script to read. Decide which parts the other participants will read. If there are only two readers, read more than one part each. Read through the story a couple of times. Model for your child how to read with expression. Read
Aaron Shepard's tips for doing reader's theater. Do a final reading of the script.
