Dress code Dress code: All students wear a standardized dress code of a collared, polo or golf style shirt in royal blue, navy blue, black, red, grey or white. Pants or shorts must be cotton twill; acceptable colors are are khaki, navy blue or black (no jeans). Skirts can be in any of the pant colors.

Curriculum

Instructional Program Highlights
  • All students in sixth grade rotate through all of our electives (computers, band, orchestra, chorus, dance, physical education, health, industrial technologies, home arts, theater arts and visual arts).
  • Every student has ninety days of second language instruction in either French or Spanish.
  • We are a Middle Years International Baccalaureate Programme candidate school and expect to be authorized in February 2007.
  • All students are requested to complete community service and summer reading and math work.

Activities and Sports
  • Girls sports: basketball, cheerleading, track, volleyball, Intramural step club and cheerleading and soft ball.
  • Boys sports: basketball, football, track, wrestling and Intramural softball.
  • Clubs and extra-curricular activities include: Yearbook is open to all students in all grades; The Falcon's Eye, our school newspaper, accepts staff from all grade levels; FNN - the Falcon News Network - is our daily morning news show, created and produced by students. Students may intern for this activity during the sixth grade, and be part of the crew in seventh and eighth grades and Intramural step and cheerleading are open to all students.

Parent and Community Support
  • We have both a PTO and a School Improvement Council. The PTO is active in its support of teachers and students - it funds agenda books for all students and enrichment materials for classrooms.

  • Library facilities: Our Media Center has a wide range of books and resources for students. We have magazines in French and Spanish. Our Media Specialist was the 2006-2007 SC Media Specialist of the Year. She has regular activities for students, including book lunches and reading rewards.

  • Students at this school enroll primarily because they live within the school's attendance boundary.
